Secondary school teams were invited to participate in an unofficial contest, a challenge accepted by 5 high school teams. The winning team were BurnsideUnlimitedChristchurch (Jamie McCloskey, Tony Sun and Logan Glasson) from Christchurch. Two members of this team were also in the winning School Category team in the New Zealand Programming Contest.
