Welcome to the ACM South Pacific Region Web site.

This site has been made primarily to provide information
and resources to participants and intending participants of the
ACM South Pacific Region Programming Contest. These resources
include information on who is eligible and how to enter the Contest,
information about different contest sites in the region, past
problem sets, past results and of course the local and international
rules which govern the Contest.
Overview
The contest is a two-tiered competition among teams
of students representing institutions of higher education. Teams
first compete in regional contests held around the world from
September to November each year. The winning team from each regional
contest qualifies to advance to the ACM International Collegiate
Programming Contest World Finals, typically held the following
March to mid-April. Additional high-ranking teams may be invited
to the World Finals as wild card teams.
Look at the South
Pacific History page to see what has happened in previous
years.
What is a programming contest?
A programming contest is designed to test problem-solving
and programming skills in an Olympic-style context. Teams of three
are allocated a single computer per team and given a number of
problems to attempt in a set time (typically 5 hours) using any
of the contest languages (currently C, C++, Java and Pascal).
